|Greetings MENC state chapter presidents, executive directors, and general music chairs,
I am writing to introduce myself to you and your membership as the Southern Division Representative for MENC's Society for General Music. My name is Molly Widolff Lueken. I am a resident of Fort Lauderdale, FL and an elementary general music teacher. I completed my degree at Ball State University in Muncie, IN. From 2007-2009, I taught at Woodlawn Elementary in Sebring, FL, and am currently teaching at Ft. Lauderdale's MUSE Center for the Arts.
My role on SGM's board is to represent the southern division states at state and/or regional meetings, to serve on planning committees for conferences, to maintain communication with the state SGM chairs in the southern division, and to assist the editorial board of General Music Today in soliciting articles or ideas for publication topics. I would like to take this opportunity to invite input on any of these areas from you and your members as well as give you a look ahead at some of the events SGM is currently helping MENC to plan.
Finally, I would like to give a friendly reminder about our wonderful online resource General Music Today. This triannual publication used to arrive in the mail, but is now available online only, with the same wonderful articles from top experts in the field. To access General Music Today, just click on the link on SGM's page on the MENC website: http://www.menc.org/s/general_music/ . You'll have to sign in with your e-mail address and membership number.
Thank-you for the taking the time to read about SGM and my role as the Southern Division representative. I would love to have the opportunity to introduce myself to the general music teachers in your membership and would appreciate hearing back on the best way for this to happen, whether that's via e-mail, newsletter, or any other means. I am also interested in knowing which person in your state's chapter would be best for me to contact with future SGM business. I sincerely appreciate your input as SGM tries to improve its service to general music teachers and our students. Best wishes for the new school year!
